Commission receives over 200 applications for FoF call

The European Commission has released the initial results of three contractual public private partnership (cPPP) Horizon 2020 calls that closed last week. The calls collectively received 417 applications for research funding.

Attracting the most applications was the Factories of the Future (FoF) call, which has a budget of nearly €143.2m. Across the seven FoF topics, 215 proposals were submitted in response to this call; this included 56 applications for funding under the ‘Manufacturing of custom-made parts for personalised products’ topic and 51 applications for ‘Industrial technologies for advanced joining and assembly processes for multi-materials’.

The Commission also received 82 proposals in response to the Sustainable Process Industries (SPIRE) cPPP call, which has a budget of over €75m, and 120 proposals to the Energy-efficient Buildings (EeB) call, which has a budget of nearly €62.5m. There were four topics under each of the SPIRE and EeB calls, and the breakdown included 30 applications for ‘New adaptable catalytic reactor methodologies for process intensification’ and 40 applications for ‘New tools and methodologies to reduce the gap between predicted and actual energy performances at the level of buildings and blocks of buildings’.
