Italian national football team to use high-tech sensors

High-tech sensors developed by the start-up Beast Technologies will be used by the Italian national football team in their training sessions for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil this summer.

The company has developed sensors that collect training data and send them in real time to a tablet or smartphone via Bluetooth. Force, speed, and power data of each movement are collected through sensors, which weigh approximately 30g each. The collected data will allow the coach to monitor the physical conditions of the players and examine the progress of the team.

The sensor can be attached to the athlete and measure the vibration of the muscles and stability of the movements, allowing the fatigue of the athletes to be estimated, which will assist in avoiding injuries.

Beast Technologies is located in the PilHub incubator of the Polytechnic of Milan, an EIT ICT Labs partner. The start-up recently became a member of the business community of the EIT ICT Labs Business Development Accelerator.
