ARTEMIS-ITEA Co-Summit opens

The first day of the ARTEMIS-ITEA Co-Summit is being held in Stockholm, Sweden.

The opening of the event sees a number of keynote speeches being held. Rudolf Haggenmüller, Chairman of ITEA2 and Heinrich Daembkes, President of the ARTEMIS Industry Association will give the welcome and opening.

Daniel Johansson, State Secretary to the Swedish Minister for IT and Energy will then provide the welcoming address, which will be followed by an intervention by Sten Nordin, Commissioner of Finance (Mayor) of Stockholm which will focus on smart cities. Governments across the Union have poured financing into the issue in recent years; by investing in smart technologies it is hoped that cities can become more competitive, environmentally sustainable and liveable places. Ulf Wahlberg, Vice-President of Industry and Research Relations from Ericsson’s CTO office, will also speak.

Those present at the event are stressing the importance of software innovation and the essential role of the sector in promoting economic growth and employment today.
