Armenia-EU end talks on framework agreement

The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, has announced that Armenia and the EU have finalised talks on the new framework agreement.

Following a meeting with European Council President Donald Tusk, Sargsyan said: “The new legal document – the comprehensive and expanded partnership agreement – reflects the real inclusiveness and deepness of Armenia-EU relations.

“At the same time it should be mentioned that apart from the framework agreement we have recorded significant advances in sectoral agreement by signing the Horizon 2020 programme on SMEs and innovations.

“In the near future we will also successfully finish the agreement on a common aviation area and the works to join Creative Europe.”

According to Sargsyan, the previous two years in Armenia-EU relations have been marked by vigorous political dialogue that has activated co-operation in various spheres.

Sargsyan is also scheduled to have meetings with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, Vice-President Federica Mogherini, European Parliament President Antonio Tajani and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
