Finpro, the public body that supports SMEs in Finland, is set to showcase Finnish smart utility and internet of things (IoT) technologies at European Utility Week (EUW) 2016.

Six Finnish IoT providers will showcase their solutions at Finpro’s Finland stand. Finpro’s ‘Capitalise your Knowledge’ programme aims to boost the digitalisation sector. The innovations on show include analytics to help companies make faster decisions, software for real-time plant monitoring, and technologies to harvest meter data, enabling the energy, water and waste sectors to increase operational efficiency.

Reijo Smolander, senior advisor and programme director at Finpro, said: “Finland has focused on developing and adopting new technologies to improve the service reliability of the national electricity system, paving the way for energy distribution automation. This means that it is one of, if not the most, cutting-edge electricity system in the world.”

Within the EU, Finland ranks first in the legal and regulatory environment for smart meters. Innovations such as real-time billing and remote control and monitoring are already increasing the efficiency of its utility sector.

Smolander added: “Whether it’s data collection, digital user interfaces, data analytics, or software applications, Finnish businesses have the solution to help utility companies increase productivity and enhance efficiency.

“The organisations who are showcasing their technologies are the optimal partners for organisations who want to connect smart utility-related industrial assets and the IoT.”
